While Observing Dogs

This is not my normal type of post, but I found it qute profound and thought I would share it with you all. This weekend, my wife and I went and saw Marley and Me. This was a sweet story of you typical American family dog. The ending was a little to close to home though. I balled my eyes out. My beloved dog Bear was put down five years ago from pneumonia. He was thirteen at the time. He grew up with my kids when they were young. He was the best behaved dog you would ever see. My kids could ride him, pull his ears etc. and never would he strike back. He would defend them and the house to his death if needed. He wasn't a special breed just your all American pure bred mutt. Enough of my experience what I really want to share the observation I made.

Dogs, mans best friend. As long as you feed them, water them and treat them well, they will always love you unconditionally. No matter what all they want to do his please their master. We train them to do tricks, do jobs. etc. all in the effort to use them for our own purposes. In turn the dog will respond how we want in eagerness to please. They love us when we yell at them fo doing something wrong. The lay with us on the bed or couch in an effort to stay close to their master. God gave us these creatures to serve us and in turn we serve them.

I believe God gave us dogs is for a reason. God created dogs to be unconditionally devoted to us. To do our bidding and rely on us for their food and care. Dog's don't worry about were their next meal comes from or how they look. They just trust us for their care. That is what God wants us to do. He wants us to do his bidding in reverant obediance. To rely on Him for everything we need.He does not want us worrying about money or how we look etc. Just to trust Him for all of that, love Him unconditionally no matter what. He doesn't require much from us, just our undivided devotion and trust. Thats it, anything else is a gift from Him just like the dog getting a treat after doing a trick.

In a day were Church's are trying to teach people to trust God. Twelve step programs, weird theologies, new teachings. Methods like "The Purpose Driven Life" etc. When in reallity He has already given us an example. Just look down right now and see your best friend. He is there just waiting to please and receive your love. That is what God wants. Just stay at His feet, do whatever it is He will have you do. Just to please Him. Then His blessings will fall on you because of the obedience shown. Your loyalty, trust and unconditional love is all that is needed.
