Watching the news and surfing the internet, reading stories, opinions and commentary on our current financial crisis I have come to following conclusion. The truth is all of these sources talk about "The Plan." I hear Hank Paulson, Burnenke, Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, President Bush, President Elect Obama, and the cast of thousands all say that "The Plan" must be implimented in order for us to come out of the mess we are in.
So what is "The Plan?" Does anyone know? I am sure I don't know what "The Plan" is. Come to think of it I don't think anyone knows what the "ThePlan" is. If you notice first "The Plan" is said to be needed. "The Plan" must be passed. "The Plan" will fix all that ailes us. But when anyone asks our fearless leaders what "The Plan" entails, we get sketchy, vague, non descript answers. Why is this? It is because no one really knows.
The first plan gave Hank Paulson 700 billion dollars to "fix bad mortgages." He received half of the money up front. But not one mortgage was fixed. No one knows what the money was spent on. Paulson knows were it went, because he wrote the checks. But he doesn't know what it was used for. Now the very people wh gave him the money are "upset" because no one knows were the money went and Paulson is asking for the other 350 billion dollars from "The Plan." This after the first half did nothing to help. Funny thing is the very ones that pushed for "The Plan" in the beginning are now saying "hold on a minute you want the rest of the money and we don't know were the first half went.' But who's fault is that? Do you think the ones who forced "The Plan's" passage will take the blame? Don't bet on it. Do think for one minute Chris Dodd or Barney Frank are going to take blame for anything? Now these people are stating the are going to add oversight to "The Plan." Wasn't oversight supposed to be already in there? I know, they are just going to do something about it now. After 350 billion of all of our tax dollars are spent. But still no one knows exactly what "The Plan" is.
Next we have "The Plan" proposed by President Elect Obama. This 1 trillion + dollar plan is supposed to "stimulate" the economy. To create millions of jobs. How many millions? No one knows. Obama first stated 3 million jobs. Then it went down to 2.5 million jobs, in the next speach it went back to 3 million jobs and then finally in is last speach it went up to 4 million jobs. But no one knows how "The Plan" will create these jobs, because no one really knows how many jobs "The Plan" will create. "The Plan" is said to create the jobs by rebuilding our infrastructure. Fixing our highways, bridges, schools etc. Mayors from all over the country have sent "The Office of The President Elect" proposals for "stimulus" money from "The Plan." The proposals are for "infrastructure" projects in these cities to create jobs. But after hearing about some of these proposals I have made the following conclusions.
The official name for "The Plan" proposed by Obama is "The American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan. But I think it should be called "The American Ear Mark, Pork Barrel Projects That Would Never Get Passed Plan." See I have found some of the projects that have been asked for in "The Plan" that are supposed to "stimulate" the economy and create jobs. One comes from Seattle, Washington. This plan gives money to the city for solar power. First isn't Seattle the cloudiest city in the union? I think they have like 220 something cloudy days on average a year. This sounds like a winner to me. Don't put the solar panels in California or Florida were the would actually do something, put them in an area were the sun is on the endangered species list. The next project comes from Harrisburg, Pa. The mayor there wants the money to build two hotels. Yes hotels. Don't private companies called hotel companies build their own hotels? I mean when did the city of Harrisburg get into hospitality management? I know that Harrisburg is just a huge tourist rap with it's sandy beaches and luxurious truck stops. The final gem on the list is from the city of Las Vegas, Nevada. The mayor there wants to "stimulate" his economy by building a museum on the history of organized crime. Yes thats what he wants. Sin city wants to build a museum to glorify sin. Go figure. But don't they already have one of those? Seems to me they have many. They are called casinos.
"The Plan" actually is two plans that are supposed to save us from utter destruction. From a crisis that has been compared to 9/11. The only thing I see is the following points:
- No one knows what "The Plan" is.
- "The Plan" seems to grow as time goes on.
- Our leaders have really no clue what they are doing
- No one will ever know were all the money from "The Plan" will go.
- No one knows were the money for "The Plan" will come from.
- The only given is that when "The Plan" is implimented we the US taxpayer will never really see a dime of it or benefit from it. We will only be required to pay for it.
- "The Plan" has not worked. 350 billion dollars later and nothing is better. What makes anyone think another 350 billion will work.
I think it is time for an uprising on the scale of the Boston Tea Party to wake up the "Big Heads" in Washington. The only way for them to hear us it to hit them were it hurts. In the purpectually empty, always open US wallet. Maybe that should be "The Plan."
